Canonet G-III

Dustin and I have been on a DI tear lately, and the fun thing about it is: the more you go, the more you find. It's a dangerous prospect though, my Dad ended up with a basement full of old board games because he couldn't keep his DI trips in check. It looked like someone had blown up Parker Brothers down there. If you're careful, however, you can really come away with some gems. I found this Canonet rangefinder camera for $5 to keep up with the Pentax that Dustin had just bought. It took some getting used to, but I am pretty stoked on how it works. The hardest part is keeping the ADD in check while you wait for the development to come back so you can see the results. See below for some of the first roll highlights.

Curse of the Pink Pearl.

It's so rare that you go to a D.I. (Utah's version of the Salvation Army) and find exactly what you went in looking for. Yesterday was one of those occasions. This bowling thing has got it's claws sunk in me pretty deep, and I feel that my game is severely suffering due to my lack of non-rental equipment. So I went to the D.I. in the hopes of finding a ball of my own. After looking everywhere I thought a bowling ball might be hiding and finding nothing, I decided to look for furniture for Dustin. Whilst in the process of doing that, I saw a beat dick bowling bag on the lower shelf of the "deck area" section. As luck would have it, not only was there a kick-ass pink ball within called, "The Pearl" but an amazing pair of blue velvet bowling shoes underneath that happened to fit Mega perfectly. All for $4.00. I bowled the first games with her today, average score: 155. Booya.

This is what happens when you spend two weeks in China. Glad you're back D.

Happy New Year!

Couple of things:
- My Advent Calendar idea didn't work. I am still extremely bitter. Someone called me "disenfranchised", and I think that's pretty accurate (not to mention an ender-ender word in Scrabble). Hopefully, having Jake up in Utah again will help with this.

- XBOX just landed a major blow against my Apple TV with the addition of streaming Netflix to the XBOX Live menu. Boxee on ATV is a big step, but I need to figure out how to use it better to make it the go-to for my entertainment needs.

- New Years is nonsense. Here is a numerical value of how much my life changed at midnight: 0.

- I'm nerding out on my car again. This is a problem, because I want to spend money on it, but it's also a blessing, because I will start changing my own oil.

Photobucket

- Hime's video of the Days Inn pool made me cry.

- DMAC's visit was awesome. We had a killer Brighton session, talked shop for hours and got in to a mini YouTube war in my basement.

-I'm toying with the idea of switching to Tumblr. Check it. For now I'm going to keep it supplemental, think of it as an extra stop on your way to better websites.

-Dustin and Brock are going to China next week, and I really wish I was going with them. Although, it probably sounds like a lot more fun than it would actually be, like being given 50 Hostess Cupcakes to eat in one sitting. The first 10 are awesome, the rest: poison. No, it probably would be super rad.

Mr. Postman.

The mail is highly underrated. In these times of "pokes" and "MyFace" the subtle joy of receiving something unexpectedly in your mailbox has become lost. When I made my bi-weekly trip to pick up my pre-approved credit card offers and copies of "Fit Pregnancy" (I guess you have to tell them when you have your baby so they'll get off your ass), I noticed a large brown envelope. It was decorated in drawings, and colorful stamps, and the postage was an Eames. Without looking, I knew it was from Dustin. He's sent us postcards before. Blank on the back, usually, but the card itself is always well thought out. You just see it, and know that it's from him. This package was meant to guilt trip me for not coming to see his new house yet. I know, because the hand-screened note paper on the inside told me.

He also included a handful of Gocco Prints, buttons, and stickers. He made all of them. Crafty devil. He also made one more thing, my day. Cue the happy music, fade to black.

Trampampolines.

"It's a room full of tramps! We have to go!" Brock does know how to sell something. Next thing you know, we're in Lindon, UT at a place called, "Jump on It!" which is exactly what he said it would be. A gigantic room full of trampolines. It's pretty rare that you'll find a concept that's more liability ridden than a skatepark, but here you go. This place was run so freestyle too, we didn't even sign waivers(!). I was completely wiped out, drenched in sweat, almost unable to stand up, and that was after 10 minutes. Dustin has some pics posted up, including one of the finger he almost lost (like I said lie-uh-bility). Get your ass out to this spot before child services shuts it down.

Hot Rod.

Dedicated to Dustin. Have fun in Barcelona.

Mo Beta Blues.

Came down to California to check out Nixon's Spring '09 line, which they have dubbed a "Beta Meeting". Ironically, Dustin is involved with a clothing brand called Beta Unit who needed to meet with him regarding some upcoming designs, thus resulting in another "Beta Meeting". Point is, I had a Double-Double. Most. Interesting. Post. Ever.

Last Day in Japan.

We decided to make our way to "Electric City" for our last day in Tokyo. This is a five or six block area of nothing but gadgets, arcades, and lots of things shiny/blinking.

I thought for sure this would be the place to find the arsenal of Airsoft guns I had been searching for, but came up empty again. Saw some "double jeans" steez that Dustin warned me about, that's a pair of jeans that has a second waist band sewed in to them to make it appear that you have on another pair underneath. Weirdos.

Speaking of weirdos, since it was Earth Day there was a huge gathering of hippies in Yoyogi Park. Hippies, like English, can be found in small pockets everywhere nowadays, and the hippies in Japan are no less annoying or smelly. One lad, who wanted so badly to be a part of the drum circle, resorted to using a can of tuna and a spoon. Come on guy, at least invest in a bucket and a stick.
