Sundance Quickie.

Sundance is in full effect right now in Park City, and if you are ever in need of seeing LA people trying to cope with being waaay out of their weather element, now's a great chance to do that. Here's a quick "Insider Travel Tidbit" for anybody who lives in LA and is thinking of going to a place where the temp sometimes dips below 60 degrees: There are other materials besides fur that can keep you warm. I know you think that just because we don't get Variety here (we do this week!), that we must be trapped in some Daniel Boone time warp, but Thinsulate and goose down work just as well and don't make you look like Atilla the Hun. Check out this pic of Ben Affleck that I snapped when he wasn't looking:

To make a long story longer, I managed to get on the wait list for "Choke", the film based on the Palahniuk book. If you ever come to Sundance, and are on a budget, this is the way to go. You just show up a couple of hours before the movie starts, get a wait list number, and then if (when) there are empty seats, you get in for $10. Not bad, considering that if you bought tickets in advance, they're $35 a pop.
Here's a pic from the line, talk about wearing the band's shirt to to the concert...c'mon guy.

Sam Rockwell kills in this movie, and overall it's a fairly strong adaptation of the book. Fox Searchlight snapped this one up, so it should be in theaters within the year. That's right, I saw it early, who wants to touch me?
