In an attempt to create a cult following in the hip-hop community, the producers of this movie put forth amazing effort in covertly connecting this movie with some of the most street credible rappers in the game. From Jay-Z's "unofficial" soundtrack, to casting Common, RZA, and T.I. as main roles, it's pretty impressive, actually. More impressive, however, is that no one piped up when someone instantly undid all that hard work with three magical words: "Cuba. Gooding. Junior."

American Gangster reminds me yet again what a versatile actor Russell Crowe is… plus Ridley Scott deftly leads us into loving the bad guy and disliking the good guy only to flip that around by the end of the movie... very clever.
